North American upper mantle Sv Model SL2013NA: Our new continental-scale model of the North American upper mantle SL2013NA is based on our previous global model SL2013sv, however with additional Global network and USArray Transportable array data. It is constrained by almost one million vertical component waveform fits, from which the most mutually consistent ~700,000 are used in the inversion.

Global Tomographic Sv Model SL2013sv: Our new global upper mantle tomographic model SL2013sv is constrained by more than half a million of our best waveform fits, which were computed using Automated Multimode Inversion.

Comparison of Global Tomographic Models: We have compared our new model SL2013sv with eleven major global models in the upper mantle and transition zone. The different models are indicated in the top row. The comparisons are made at 12 different depths throughout the upper mantle and transition zone: 35, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 500, 600, and 700 km depth. The colour scale is indicated at the bottom of the figure, and saturation level for each depth (indicated at left) is the same for each model. The models are sorted by increasing age (since publication) from left to right. Perturbations are plotted in percent with respect to the mean value for each model at each depth. The full resolution version of the A0 sized poster is ~120 Mb, and can be accessed by clicking the thumbnail below.
